I just got the newest book from Wassink Lundgren Toky Tokyo which Fritz Gierstberg so rightly calls a “lampooning of the mythical decisive moment”. Wassink and Lundgren often work together, but this might be the first time where their artistic co-op becomes a formal part of the work.
The so-called moment may be magical and mystical and elusive, but what happens when the spacial factor is figured in? The same moment, from 2 different perspectives, its a bit like street photography in 3d. The spaces almost become animated and somehow easier to enter. All of the images are made in Tokyo so this book feels like a long exhausting trek through the city.
There is a special edition available with the 2 images which are on the front and back covers.
