Thomas Bonfert

Tagebuch eines Aussendienstmitarbeiters

(Diary of a Field Worker) – limited edition book/portfolio

With the ongoing and relevant question at the moment of “should I print Offset/Digital/Laser/Digital-offset(do you use an Ingigo?) /Blurb/in China or Heidelberg”, it was refreshing to get a book with 20 tipped in color photographs.

The Vienese photographer Thomas Bonfert sent me his latest book which documents his daily routine of being a field worker for what I assume is a Vienna based company, though he never say for sure. Each of the 20 images is framed by the side window of his company car, framing the landscapes and cityscapes with an oblong frame, punctuated by the side-viesw mirror which gives us a second perspective on the surroundings.

“This project emerged in the course of my driving through Austria. Driving a car makes images and impressions drift by. Documenting them, revealing them from the driver’s viewpoint was my goal”

You can see a better documentation here and see a bit of the process. Each book is signed and numbered out of an edition of 100 with text in german. The price is 28 Euro and being that it is self-published, I would recommend getting one directly from Thomas here.
